 2009年5月9日，由中国佛教协会、中华宗教文化交流协会、佛教圣地法门寺合十舍利塔落成既佛指舍利安奉大典陕西组委会共同组办的佛教圣地法门寺合十舍利塔落成既佛指舍利安奉大典在新落成的法门寺文化景区盛大举行。

  上下五千年，历经十三朝，后土之上，高天之下，三秦大地犹如一部尘封已久的、厚重的中国历史大书。漫长的历史长河之中，纵烟云变幻、纵时空更迭，都无法掩饰几千年文明的光辉。当时间将我们定格在21世纪之初，当我们再次翻卷之时，剥去既往史卷中的浮尘，我们依然能够感受到佛教宽容博大的力量与光辉！

The temple was built during Emperor Huan and Emperor Ling's years of Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220 Ac). It underwent through the dynasties of Sui, North Zhou, Sui, Tang, Song, Ming, Qing numerous restoration and reconstruction. The Temple currently maintains such a layout as Grand Hall following Pagoda. The True Relic Pagoda is regarded as the middle axle of the temple. Before it stand the Front Gate, the Front Hall, and behind it is the Grand Hall of Great Sage. This is the typical layout of the early Buddhist temples in China.

In August 1981, half side wall of True Relic Pagoda collapsed in the heavy rain. In 1985, local government decided to pull down the remaining half side wall and rebuild the True Relic Pagoda. A large quantity of precious historical relics was unearthed when the underground palace of the Pagoda was opened on 3 April 1987. Among the 2499 cultural relics, it accounts in particular the four phalanx relics of Buddha, the only extant sarira now in the world and Mi-ce porcelain, the first discovery of its sort.

法门寺位于陕西省扶风县城北10公里处的法门镇。始建于东汉末年恒灵年间，距今约有1700多年历史，有"关中塔庙始祖"之称。

法门寺因舍利而置塔，因塔而建寺，原名阿育王寺。释迦牟尼佛灭度后，遗体火化结成舍利。公元前三世纪，阿育王统一印度后，为弘扬佛法，将佛的舍利分成八万四千份，使诸鬼神于南阎浮提，分送世界各国建塔供奉。中国有十九处，法门寺为第五处。

唐代200多年间，先后有高宗、武后、中宗、肃宗、德宗、宪宗、懿宗和僖宗八位皇帝六迎二送供养佛指舍利。每次迎送声势浩大，朝野轰动，皇帝顶礼膜拜，等级之高，绝无仅有。咸通十五年（874）正月四日，唐僖宗李儇最后一次送还佛骨时，按照佛教仪轨，将佛指舍利及数千件稀世珍宝一同封入塔下地宫，用唐密曼荼罗结坛供养。宋代法门寺承袭了唐代皇家寺院之宏阔气势，被恢复到最大规模，当时仅二十四院之一的"浴室院"即可日浴千人。

1981年8月24日，宝塔半边倒塌。1986年政府决定重建，87年2月底重修宝塔。适逢四月初八佛诞日，"从地涌出多宝龛，照古腾今无与并"，在沉寂了1113年之后，2499多件大唐国宝重器，簇拥着佛祖真身指骨舍利重回人间！
 
    舍利是外来词，梵语SARIRA的音译，还可以音译为"实利"、"设利罗"、"室利罗"。意译体、身、身骨、遗身，即遗骨之意。通常指佛陀之遗骨，而称佛骨、佛舍利，其后亦指高僧死后焚烧所遗之骨。
 
    法门寺东距西安110公里，地处中华民族的传统文化发祥地－－周原。中国历史上历时最长的朝代－－周朝与第一个统一全国的朝代－－秦朝皆由此兴起。这里是东西方贸易的必经之地，古代丝绸之路的要冲，东西文化交汇的机枢。

王菲西安参与了法门寺合十舍利塔落成暨佛―舍利安奉大典晚会，并演唱了一曲《心经》，作为佛教徒，王菲在西安期间还密会了许多参加活动的高僧。

王菲 5月8日晚上参加陕西法门寺合十舍利塔落成暨佛指舍利安奉大典大型晚会"法门"的排练，并献唱歌曲《心经》。
